<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>How is our reality constructed? In the age of instagram, facebook, twitter and all other social media it is easy to fall into the trap of false perception. I personally deleted my instagram about a year ago because it gave me more stress than happiness. I had around seven hundred followers getting a few hundred likes but after a while it got old worrying about if people would like my posts, making sure to like and comment on others posts, seeing people looking so happy in their pictures but knowing it really wasn’t how they were feeling. </span><span style=”font-weight: 400;”>”Comparison Is the Thief of Joy” A quote from Theodore Roosevelt, argues that comparing your work, your life, or whatever else will only serve to make you unhappy. This was coming from a guy who was 50 years removed from social media but even he knew that spending your time looking at what other people are doing is never going to make you happy. In the episode of Black Mirror we watched it was only when the main character stopped caring what other people thought about her that she had an ernest smile on her face, even if it was because she finally let everything go. The world will most likely lean into social media even more as technology advances but for me and a growing group of people its not worth to try to keep up with the jones of the instagram.</span>
