In week 6 we were asked to read “When the First Voice You Hear is Not Your Own” by Jacqueline Jones Royster, “How Twitter Became Home to the Teen Status Update: ‘Local Twitter’ is a booming network of basic, young suburbanites across the country.” by Taylor Lorenz and draw a comparison between the texts. “How Twitter Became Home to the Teen Status Update: ‘Local Twitter’ is a booming network of basic, young suburbanites across the country.” Touches on the way twitter is used today to communicate with the world and mainly how teens to young adults are using Twitter to connect and label each other. “When the First Voice You Hear is Not Your Own” talks about something called “cross-boundary discourse” and how talking about controversial topics will cause a disconnect between the speaker and the listener. These two texts connect on the style of how to communicate with one another, focusing on how it is done and how to best get your point across to your audience.
