The readings we had for this week’s assignments “When the first voice you hear is not your own” by Jacqueline Jones, “How twitter became home to the teens Status update: by Taylor Lorenz and the Black mirror Episode “Season 4 Episode 1: U.S.S Callister all mostly showed how the human mind thinks and what tactics we use to get away from our current reality. Everyone has a different approach to their everyday struggles and what they do to make themselves feel better. For example, according to the readings they show us how teens would get away from their reality by expressing themselves on twitter. While others would use twitter to see what’s the status of other people around the world and if the can relate or agree with that person they’d share their post to expose it to other users. One status update can go from unseen to hitting hundreds of thousands of retweets really fast. This allows them to use the virtual world as an escape from reality. For example in the Episode of Black mirror “ U.S.S Callister” Robert Daily used a mod version of the infinity virtual game he created to make himself feel better. He’d use the DNA of people who give him a hard time or make fun of him to clone them in his own version of the game. Where he would have full power over them. He gets to command them to do anything he wants without questions asked.

    Hi Salah,

I agree with one of your points in your post about the articles we read this week. I like where you say, “While others would use twitter to see what’s the status of other people around the world and if the can relate or agree with that person they’d share their post to expose it to other users.” This is something that I also gathered from the article. Twitter has become such a platform for expressing opinions and its easier than ever to connect with people around the world. And being able to relate to each other is important when we seem to be losing social relationships with each other.

    See you in class! Karina
